Abruzzo in autumn

The cuisine of the southeastern coastal region of Abruzzo is made up of strong, rustic flavors, which to this very day bear witness to the influence of a centuries old cooking heritage. The dishes typical of the region's pastoral traditions are especially suitable for autumn, everything from the hearty salami antipasto served with toasted bread to the famous lamb kebabs accompanied by a side dish of sautéed artichokes. And to top the meal off, a truly classic dessert of the local cuisine: calcionetti pastries, featuring a delicious chestnut filling.
Antipasto
> Mixed salami and crostini antipasto
In order for this antipasto to be really good, you need to use excellent salamis whose flavor and aroma are enhanced by toasted bread

First course
> Farfalle with broad beans and smoked pancetta
A country recipe that makes an ideal autumn or winter dish, in which the smoked flavour of the bacon stands out.

Second course
> Roast lamb kebabs
Little cubes of lamb that melt in the mouth. Grilled chunks of succulent lamb are a classic of Abruzzo's traditional cuisine

Side dish
> Sautéed artichokes
Here's a perfect way to accompany the lamb kebabs without overwhelming their unmistakable flavor: a simple side dish of sautéed artichokes.

Dessert
> Calcionetti
Calcionetti are delicious little pie-dough pastries containing a rich filling of chestnuts, flavored with cinnamon and candied fruit.
