The Barilla Sports Festival was inaugurated in 1996; it is an annual event in which sports, art, cooking and culture meet for a lively two days devoted to competitions, fun, relaxation and fine food.
The Campus of Parma's Universitą degli Studi, a splendid setting and feather in the cap of the city of Parma, is host to the numerous activities organized during the Barilla Sports Festival: a world-class cycing race, a pleasant food and wine tour by bike, a footrace and the Kid's Village, a place for children and their families, plus sundry other minor events.

Numerous events distinguish Barilla's two-day Sports Festival:
Barilla Long-distance
Over 3000 cyclists - amateurs, pros and champions - will put themselves to the test in what has become a classic appointment along the roads of the Apennines. Participants will have three routes to choose from: "Marathon" (155 km), "Classic" (106 km) and "Light" (71 km). The start is at 10 a.m. sharp, arrival at 5 p.m., Sunday, June 8th.
Gran Gourmet
On this biking tour, conceived expressly for lovers of fine food and their families, you may sample local specialities in their natural setting. The route, roughly 45 km in length, features three stops along the way where bikers can relish the characteristic dishes of the Province of Parma... and, naturally, Barilla's pasta delights!
Duathlon Franchigeno - Powerman
Running and cycling: two world-class competitions.
Night Run
A 10,000 m moonlight footrace. Accomplished athletes as well as dedicated amateurs will compete on an enchanting course on the University Campus grounds.
Kid's Village
A Village entirely devoted to tots and youngsters, for a merry weekend of sporting fun and entertainment; numerous organized events will be offered, including the opportunity for children aged 4 to 14 to try their luck at over 12 different sporting activities under the guidance of qualified instructors from the various federations. During snack-time, while our budding athletes rest, there will be plenty of entertainment and games. |

Throughout the Festival, refreshments will always be on hand at the Barilla Pasta Party pavilion, a 1000 sq.m structure in which our team of Barilla Chefs will be preparing over 10,000 pasta servings, following a rich selection of recipes.
Under the huge Barilla Pasta Party tent, entertainment, shows and award ceremonies will take the scene in the general atmosphere of high energy typical of sports-lovers, along with cascades of pasta, bustling cooks, throngs of visitors and distinguished guests. |
